We’ve recently begun our greatest adventure ever… we’re adopting! We are thrilled to be on this new journey that God has led us to and are so excited to grow our family through adoption. Before we were married, we both knew that we wanted to adopt one day and after many years of fertility struggles (including many medications, doctor’s appointments and surgery), we felt God calling us to start the adoption process sooner than we had originally planned.
In April 2017 we started working with New Life Family Services, a wonderful agency right here in the Twin Cities that works with birth parents and adoptive families. The adoption will be done domestically (likely with a birth family from Minnesota) and we are pursuing an open adoption (meaning that we hope to stay in touch and have an ongoing relationship with the birth mother/family of our child). We know adoption and adoption terminology may feel a little scary, especially if you don’t know much about it. Check out our Adoption Language page to learn more about some of these terms and positive adoption language.
We’ll be keeping our friends and family up to date on the status and progress with our adoption. You can check out where we’re at in the process, as well as what we’ve already completed on our Adoption Timeline page. We’ve had a few people ask us how much our adoption will cost. The total cost with our agency will be $18,000 – $20,000. If you feel prompted to help support us financially, check out our Give page. More than anything, we ask for you to support us through your prayers. Adoption is not an easy journey, but we know that God has called us to this and that prayer is powerful.
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.
Isaiah 43:18-19
